Production I.G Screenwriter Pens Original Novel
Junichi Fujisaku worked on "Ghost in the Shell: SAC" and "Blood-C""Blood-C: The Last Dark"
Production I.G announced the publication of a new original novel by Junichi Fujisaku, who worked on scripts for Ghost in the Shell: Stand Alone Complex and Blood-C, among other anime (like the xxxHolic movie A Midsummer Night's Dream) as well as books and videogames.
Illustrations on the project are by Tsukasa Kotobuki (character designs for Saber Marionette J, creator of Cyber Team in Akihabara). Unfortunately the only example we have at this point is that tiny cover image...
Tsukareluna is about a girl named Luna who is an underground idol [note: does live events but without a real media presence] in Akihabara. The twist is that because she is possessed by 49 different ghosts, she is able to solve mysteries by borrowing their power (although it's not clear if that is a supernatural power beyond talking to them or just taking advantage of their no-doubt wide breadth of knowledge).
49 ghosts is an awful lot. Should be interesting to see how she keeps track of it all. The book goes on sale this April from To Books for 1,575 yen (almost US $20).
